More Layoffs

More Layoffs

Are you sick and tired of your Sims constantly getting laid off from their jobs? Me neither!! Because despite the fact that I bought Growing Together pretty close to its release date, I’ve still yet to see my Sims face a layoff period even ONCE!!!

And looking at the code, it’s not hard to see why. The odds that a layoff period will start are 1%. 1%!!!! That’s not even the odds that your sim will actually get laid off, just the odds that you’ll EVER see this feature in action.

Maybe the layoffs feature wasn’t a major selling point to most people, but it was to me!! I’ve always been disappointed by how tame the consequences of chance cards are in TS4 compared to those in previous games (many of which could get you fired) and I was really looking forward to this feature shaking up my Sims’ lives in a similar way!

Well, now it can! There are two parts to this this mod with various flavors. You can choose one of each.

The “MoreLayoffs-StartChance” package raises the odds of your Sims facing a layoff period to 5%, 10%, 15%, or 20% depending on the flavor you choose. It also removes the personality modifiers which originally factor into those odds (since those also factor into the odds that your sim will lose their job when the layoff period ends and I think the modifiers make more sense there). Originally, Sims with the Professional Slacker reward trait were immune to facing layoffs and I removed this restriction.

The “MoreLayoffs-JobLoss” package has various flavors that affect the odds that your sim will lose their job once the layoff period ends (one of which is actually lower than the default if that’s more your speed): 10% , 20% (default), 30%, or 40%. Originally, certain traits modify these odds. This package adds some additional traits that seemed to be missing as oversights:

– In addition to Ambitious Sims, now Responsible [PH] Sims and Overachievers [HSY] will be less likely to be laid off.
– In addition to Lazy Sims, now Irresponsible [PH] Sims will be more likely to be laid off.

These modifiers stack, so a Sim who is Lazy and Irresponsible will be more likely to be laid off than one who is Lazy or Irresponsible.
